I am Adèle Young, owner of VDL Interiors. Good design, especially that of interior spaces and furniture, inspires me every day. I am happy to help others live, work and exist in well designed, beautiful places.

Having been raised in an artistic household in Cape Town, South Africa, by an architect dad and a ballerina mom, you can say that creativity and design is in my blood. From the family home that my dad designed to the “playgrounds” that his architectural firm, and the backstage world of theaters, provided, these early surroundings made an indelible impression on my creative mind. I developed a keen awareness of design early in life that has continued to be part of who I am. Yet, it was only after earning a degree in Psychology, living in London for two years and ending up in Chicago that I decided to immerse myself in a career that allows me to live and breathe my passion. With a second degree in residential planning and years of tutelage alongside well-established interior designers, I’ve now used that formal training and practical experience to sow the seeds of my own business. As a single mother of two children, I figured that if I have to work to survive I’ll be sure to do something that I absolutely love.
